Proposed NMFC Changes Scheduled for December 5, 2019

The Commodity Classification Standards Board (CCSB) has posted proposed amendments to the National Motor Freight Classification® (NMFC®). These amendments will be published, pending reconsideration, on December 5, 2019 and are expected to go in effect on January 4, 2020.

How the August NMFC Changes Could Impact Shipping Rates

One of the most substantial changes is the transition from a 9-tier to an 11-tier density breakdown. Depending on the density of the shipment, the freight class could change due to the new density subclassification thresholds.
