Our Expedite team finds efficient & economical solutions for time-sensitive freight. When working up a quote, the three most important pieces of information that shippers should have ready are:
1. Accurate dimensions & weight
Dimensional weight will directly affect your shipment quote, so be sure the number you offer to your expediter is accurate.
2. Time of arrival / Protect time
For an accurate quote, you need to relay the most accurate window of time that the shipment needs to arrive. “Protect time” is the latest it can arrive; for example, “By 2:00 p.m. on November 12.”
3. Specific requirements
Will your shipment require inside delivery, dock high or liftgate? These accessorials can affect your quote and need to be specified before the delivery takes place.
Ready to ship? Make sure your expediter understands your business so they can walk backwards to front with you to find the best value in what you need. Keep in mind that big-name expediters may charge you a very high rate.
Our recommendation: Find a 3PL that will learn the ins and outs of your business - offering proactive solutions that make sense for your company’s needs.
