Weather Alert: Hurricane Dorian

Please note that Hurricane Dorian's landfall is impacting port, rail and over-the-road operations across the Southeast. Below are the latest updates:


  • Miami, FL – South Florida Container Terminal
    • Closed 9/3/19
  • Savannah, GA – Georgia Ports Authority
    • Closed 9/3/19 and 9/4/19
  • Charleston, SC – Wando Terminal – South Carolina State Ports
    • Closed 9/4/19 and 9/5/19
    • Planning for a 9/6/19 9:00 a.m. opening with gates on 9/7/19 and 9/8/19
  • Wilmington & Morehead City, NC
    • Currently at Port Condition X-Ray - operating under normal gate hours but no refrigerated cargo is being received at the Wilmington container facility

  • Norfolk Southern has closed all in-gates for export loads and empties destined to Charleston and Savannah
    • Closures will be through 9/6/19 at least
    • Memphis to Miami which interchanges to the Florida East Coast railroad - loaded containers will be held in Memphis
  • CSX ceased all rail operations at 12 noon on 9/3/19, including all routes to/from:
    • Charleston
    • Savannah
    • Jacksonville
    • Nashville


  • It is expected that the majority of LTL and TL providers operating in the storm path will suspend operations until driving conditions are safe
    • A detailed list of carrier updates will be shared tomorrow
Hurricane Dorian is projected to travel along the coast throughout the week. Additional closings and delays are possible. Please continue to watch for further updates.
